The EEG rating is a large-scale Russian project aimed at assessing companies that use responsible business practices. According to the Kommersant newspaper, the rating should become an alternative to foreign business valuation based on ESG principles.
The EEG corporate social responsibility rating was presented in summer 2023 at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. Its main difference from Western ESG-type business ratings is the emphasis on the company's social activities and responsibility.
This project evaluates all legal entities registered in Russia, including small, medium and large businesses, with the exception of financial institutions (banks, insurance companies, and other such organizations), as well as micro enterprises and budgetary, state and autonomous institutions.
The EEG acronym stands for the main areas of company performance assessment: Environment, Employees, Government.
The rating is compiled by the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation and the D.I. Mendeleev Institute of Demographic Policy, with the support of I.O. Shchegolev, Representative Plenipotentiary of the Russian President in the Central Federal District. The rating is also supported by the Russian Federal Tax Service and Accounts Chamber. Company performance analysis considers both public data and documented internal information.
Pharmstandard JSC received the highest level of assessment within the EEG rating, AAA. In total, the company scored 110 points out of the possible 160.
The company owes its high baseline rating to the Government block in particular. It covers tax history, business reputation, social investment in the regions of presence, and interaction with business associations.
