21.03.2012

Dmitry Medvedev, while on a working trip to Vladimir Region, visited the Biotechnology Centre Generium which has received a Skolkovo resident status. Dmitry Medvedev looked around the laboratories and met with the Centre’s researchers. Today, the Centre develops and produces pharmaceutical products for the treatment of myocardial infarction, TB diagnostics, multiple sclerosis, blood diseases. Clinical trials of cancer products are scheduled to take place here in near future.

The Scientific Research Centre (NauchTechStroy Plus LLC) is a Russian technology cluster, the only one of its kind in the country. The project was developed and realised through co-operation between JSC Pharmstandard and a group of Russian pharmaceutical companies. The Scientific Research Centre has been designed to provide the best possible conditions for the researchers and operational staff to realise their full potential and to enjoy comfortable accommodation. Apart from the research and production facilities, the Centre includes a living quarter for the employees and their families designed to host 600 people. In near future, the number of the technology cluster residents, specifically such as new ventures and start-ups, is expected to grow.

Following the visit, a meeting of the Presidential Commission for Modernisation and Technological Development of Russia’s Economy took place. In his opening speech the head of state shared his impressions of what he had seen.

This is a good example that illustrates well the subject we are set to address today, and it is always good when you see something new develop and take shape before your eyes, and what we see here is of world-class standards. This is all the more important when we think that many of the young people working here were working elsewhere before, working abroad in some cases, but had the will and desire to come here to work', said Dmitry Medvedev.
