Industry of the Kursk Region Works Steadily and Develops

During the press-conference held at the Kursk House of Journalists on March 20, 2019, Roman Kolesnichenko, Chairman of the Committee on Industry and Transport of the Kursk Region, focused on the issues of industrial development in the region. According to the chairman of the sector-specific committee, the industry in the region maintains stability and growth rates. According to Kurskstat, in 2018 the industrial production index (IPI) was 103 %, and in the first two months of the current year — 101.5 %. The amount of investments into the fixed capital assets of industrial facilities at the end of 2018 was more than RUB 55 billion.

A substantial contribution into the development of this economic sector, as well as to the regional budget, is made by such industrial enterprises as Mikhailovsky Mining and Processing Plant, Kursk Nuclear Power Plant, Pharmstandard-Leksredstva, Khimvolokno, Kurskrezinotekhnika, Electroagregat, Electroapparat, Sovtest ATE, Composite, and many others. The rate of food and pharmaceutical processing industries is 29%.

According to Roman Kolesnichenko, every week he visits different plants and examines the state of affairs. The manager assured the journalists that the efforts of the regional administration would be aimed at creation of the most favorable conditions for doing business in the region, for the development of export potential of the Kursk Region.

The industrial enterprises will continue to receive the state support at the regional and federal levels. Thus, an effective cooperation has been arranged with the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation. Federal and Regional Industrial Development Funds support new projects Kursk plants, they grant concessional loans under conditions of co-investment. For example, Kursk Batteries plant will receive the amount of RUB 300 million for development.

Large long-term investment projects are strategically important for the Region’s economy. Thus, Rosenergoatom Concern JSC continues the construction of a substation NPP-2 with the amount of investment into construction of two blocks over RUB 320 billion. <…>

Mikhailovsky Mining and Processing Plant performs construction of the crushing and screening unit on the open pit slopes with the investment amount of more than RUB 11 billion. The implementation of this project will allow for an increase in output and costs optimization. EcoTex performs works on arrangement of cotton knitted wear manufacturing. <…>

In 2019 Pharmstandard-Leksredstva JSC will complete implementation of the investment project on renovation of production facilities for manufacturing of liquids with the investment amount of RUB 270 million, which will allow for the production expansion and export potential augmentation.
